PIPEDA

The Per­son­al Infor­ma­tion Pro­tec­tion and Elec­tron­ic Doc­u­ments Act (PIPEDA) is a fed­er­al law that reg­u­lates the col­lec­tion and use of per­son­al infor­ma­tion in Cana­da. CIC is oblig­at­ed to com­ply with this Act when­ev­er per­son­al infor­ma­tion is collected.

Cana­di­an cit­i­zens are pro­tect­ed under the PIPEDA, see Pol­i­cy 8.2.


GDPR

The Gen­er­al Data Pro­tec­tion Reg­u­la­tion (GDPR) is a Euro­pean Union (EU) Reg­u­la­tion that reg­u­lates the col­lec­tion and use of per­son­al infor­ma­tion for EU Cit­i­zens. CIC must com­ply with this Reg­u­la­tion when­ev­er an EU Citizen’s per­son­al infor­ma­tion is col­lect­ed. See Pol­i­cy 8.3.
